The Wasatch Mountains are a patchwork quilt of different land ownerships. The Powderbirds are only permitted to operate on Forest Service land and are prohibited from landing on private property unless they have written permission, as stated in their Operating Manual. This classic photo shows a Powderbird Guides helicopter firmly parked on private property near the Park City ridgeline. [singlepic=108,600,450,,left]
This was in an area where the Powderbirds had been told repeatedly over the years that they were not welcome to land. To further the insult, they were flying 13 miles away from where they claimed they would be on their daily report, which is not even close. They also landed within 200′ of a touring party in the process, for the Grand WPG Trifecta of irresponsibility. When WPG and the Forest Service were questioned about the incident, they blamed it on the helicopter pilot.
